Fredrikstad

Here are some pictures from Marius' hometown when we went there at the end of December for a long weekend. We celebrated New Years Eve together at his home with his mom, dad, brother, sister, her boyfriend, and a few family friends and other family members... it was a fun time and surreal being where he grew up... The first pictures are from "Gamlebyen" which means the 'old town'. This part of the city is really traditional and is actually the oldest fortified city in Europe! There is a big bridge you have to drive over to get to it because its surrounded by water. We walked around on New Years Eve so there was NO ONE out there, just us. Needless to say, it was so beautiful and peaceful... i love the old architecture!

This is a picture of Marius outside an apartment building he lived in when he was a kid.

These last few pictures of us standing in the snow are of us standing in the schoolyard of the school he attended for 10 years... in the picture of us standing together, you can see the fortified city in the background across the river. Also in a picture of me, you can see the big bridge you have to drive over to get into the fortified city. (or you could take boats across the river)

p.s. that day was so cold, after we walked around outside it took about 20 minutes until I could feel my toes again!!! D:
